Why a family foundation

We wanted something that keeps doing good long after any one of us is around to run it.

People ask why we set this up as a family foundation instead of just writing checks. For me it comes down to time. A check helps once. A foundation can keep showing up for generations, and that's the horizon I care about.

Our mission is two words: advance humanity. Each generation gets to decide what that means for its own moment. For us, right now, it means taking AI seriously, helping families when hard health news lands, and thanking the people who served.

The programs will probably look different in twenty years, and that's how it should be. What we're really handing down is the name, the mission, and the habit of showing up.

We're building it to be something the next generation of our family is proud to run.
