Field notes
We opened The Good Institute on a simple idea: the job is helping people stay capable, in their own heads and in a life full of AI, with the Academy connecting the two.
So far that idea holds up, and the details have been interesting. These are early impressions, and we'll treat them that way until the data backs them up. Outsourced judgment looks quieter and more common than the companion-dependence headlines suggest. Age and screen habits seem to matter more than any single model release. And household agents appear to be arriving faster than school policy.
We publish our views, we're building ongoing pulses across six research areas, and we're designing Academy tracks that parents and adults can actually use. We stay away from fear marketing, and we keep a clear line between research and care.
This library is the public record of the work. If you're new here, start with Concerns, then Views, then come back to these observations.
